It’s like having a personal trainer!
Ok, it’s not really like having a personal trainer, but there is definitely a motivation that drives you to reach all your numbers on the Fitbit app. How many steps you get in a day and making sure you get at least 250 steps per hour between 9 am and 11 pm. Mine is set to 12,000 steps per day but you can adjust yours for what you want. Then there is flights of stairs in a day, mine is set to 10 flights. The app shows you calories burned and how many miles you’ve traveled that day too. My miles daily goal is 6 miles and calories goal is 3000. It also tracks your heart rate and how many minutes that you elevate your heart rate. If your heart rate is elevated above 85 or 90 bpm and you maintain that for at least 10 minutes those minutes are counted and the goal is reached when you accumulate 60 of those minutes. Once you reach all 5 goals there is a streaming of the color green diagonally across the whole screen to celebrate your accomplishments!
You can also track your weight loss and the amount of water that you have drank in a day. My water goal is set to 64 ounces. Tracking your calories is another feature and one that I did not use until this year. I tried it in the beginning but it was too much of a hassle so I stopped. Then at the start of this year I gave it another try and I’m glad I did. Calories are important to keep track of if your trying to lose weight and it also tracks the percentage of carbohydrates, fat, and protein you consume. This is very important cause if you eat a lot of fat you’ll get fat!
You can See my carbs were 81% for the day and fat was just 8%. Healthy carbs don’t make you fat, fat makes you fat, whether it’s animal fat or plant fat! Using the Fitbit has been very beneficial for me. It gets you moving because you want to hit your numbers each day. All you have to do is walk. Maybe you can eat at your desk at work or if you drive, eat while your driving and during lunch walk for an hour or however long your lunch is. When you get home from work go for a walk instead of just sitting on the couch. I’m always walking my dog Teddy, getting my steps in and I walk my lunch hour most days. If your on a conference call at work and you can, get up and walk!
